Scotland on track to hit ‘big three’ targets

In a nutshell: Statistics have been published which show that Scotland is on track to meet its targets to cut premature deaths from heart disease, stroke and cancer. The Scottish Government recently launched an action plan called Better Heart Disease and Stroke Care, which aims to improve people’s health before problems develop. Measures include encouraging healthier lifestyles, improving cardiac treatment and boosting staff skills. Scotland is on track to hit its target of a 60% reduction in deaths from coronary heart disease in under 75s from 1995 levels by 2010.
