In a nutshell: The 2009 National Audit of Cardiac Rehabilitation services in England, Wales and Northern Ireland found that, of 135,000 eleigible patients, only 38% received the proper rehabilitation care. Women were particularly underrepresented. In addition, no single cardiac rehabilitation programme met the minimum staffing requirements.
