In a nutshell: This article examines a rural US community-based service designed to reduce cardiovascular risk factors. Participants were sedentary midlife or older women who were overweight or obese. Those who participated in the twice-weekly heart health programme for 12 weeks showed improvements in various areas such as body weight, waist circumference and physical activity.
