In a nutshell:  The ‘Steps to Health’ scheme began in Summer 2003, and now offers 6 programmed walks per week, which attract around 30 people per walk. A number of the original walkers are now acting as volunteer walk leaders. The scheme has recently been awarded accreditation by ‘Walking the Way to Health’, and is aimed at getting people walking in their own communities, especially those who previously took little or no exercise.
