Exercising later in life can ward off heart problems

In a nutshell: Moderate physical activity such as brisk walking, gardening or cycling for two and a half hours per week could help middle-aged people avoid heart disease by controlling inflammation. A study of over 4000 participants has found that those who were more active had lower levels of inflammatory markers. The findings could encourage the over 40s to make lifestyle changes, even if they have not been physically active in the past.
