In a nutshell: This study examined the burden of coronary heart disease (CHD) and identified and analysed recent trends in terms of age, gender and socioeconomic inequalities. Data from various sources between 1999 and 2007 was used, and involved all adults over 25 living in England. Strong socio-economic gradients persisted or worsened in all patient groups over this time period.
