In a nutshell: This guidance is a partial update of ‘Four commonly used methods to increase physical activity’ – NICE Public Health Guidance 2 (2006). It is aimed at commissioners of health services and primary care staff who offer lifestyle advice, but may also be useful to all those who have a role in encouraging physical activity. The guidance aims to support routine provision of brief advice on physical activity in primary care practice.
